Anonymous hello! how's life? i've been reading 'sophie's world - a novel about the history of philosophy' by jostein gaarder. and when the title says "philosophy", they really do mean philosophy. but in bite-sized chunks. it's quite interesting, so far i've thought about how "nothing comes from nothing" and how everything come from 4 main elements - earth, air, fire, and water. & it's true! just think about it (i'll use the example from the book). "when wood burns, we hear it crackle and sputter. that is 'water'. something goes up in smoke. that is 'air'. the 'fire' we can see. something also remains when the fire is extinguished. that is the ashes - or 'earth'." and when i'm not filling my head with philosophy, i'll be sleeping. and studying chinese but now i dont have to study chinese anymore :) for about three days because there are still prelims and o's. curses. had hcl mocks today in the LT. you know, with those tiny little black slabs that they call tables and the absence of the useful CLOCK. laoshi was very funny, she kept talking and people kept shushing her and i thought it was quite mean because frankly i dont think laoshi can help it. she's the very 'lorsor' kind. but not having a clock was the worst because it made me (and i'm sure a lot of other people i.e. charlene and deborah) finish the zuowen 1 whole hour early! i'm serious. who knew an electronic dictionary could be so much fun? and it wasnt until i finished the paper that i realised that the electronic dictionary had a clock. after that went to fareast with xuehui cos the bus was too crowded and i didnt want to squeeze past so many people in order to get out. had bubble tea which was quite yummy and walked around abeeettt. so. macbeth on saturday! i have to admit that i kind of expected a more elaborate production, like with the costumes and kilts and everything. some bits were funny, even when they weren't supposed to be. but i thought the actor who played macbeth and lady macbeth were brilliant, esp. LM. their facial expressions, tone of voice... etc. the characters were interpreted quite well. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() send me pictures, everyone! :D teehee. bio in the shaw hall, then a 3 hour break before amath tomorrow. so exciting! byebyeeeee |
